How To check & Test for Plantar fasciitis
WHAT YOU NEED TO DO...
1 ) As pictured, sit and cross foot over knee.
2) Use your thumb to push into the heel at spot indicated...then just to the left, right and rear of this area...
3) As pictured next, bend toes back toward shin and repeat Step 2...
In Step 2 your plantar fascia ligament is NOT under tension. If you feel pain when you push into any of those areas on the heel then fasciitis is most likely involved. Plantar Bursitis occurs in the center so it may be the culprit, instead. Learn more here >>
In Step 3 the ligament is under tension - if you feel pain - or sharper more focused pain than in Step 2 - then fasciitis is involved. Bursitis may also be involved.
Do not ice or stretch an injured plantar ligament. Treating the symptom won't help - the pain will be chronic or recurring.
